Write On The Lake

A Contest of the Lake Winnipeg Writers’ Group

This creative writing contest is open to everyone. All entrants receive a one-year LWWG Electronic Membership.

Three Adult Categories:

  • Poetry — maximum three pages or 1500 words
  • Fiction — maximum 2500 words
  • Non-fiction— maximum 2500 words

Three Youth Categories:

  • Poetry —maximum three pages or 1500 words
  • Fiction — maximum 2500 words
  • Non-fiction— maximum 2500 words

Photo Contest:

Open to adults and youth alike. Colour file of a minimum of 600 dpi (dots per inch) or 1 Mb (megabyte). Send entries on a CD or USB drive along with an entry form.

For each category:

Prizes Adult (18+) Youth (under 17)
First $100 $75
Second $75 $50

Photography:

  • First Prize: Your photo will feature on the front cover of our next Voices.
  • Second Prize: Your photo will feature on the back cover of our next Voices.
  • Limit of two entries per participant.

All winners in all categories will be awarded a certificate.

Entry fee:

  • Adults: $10 for first entry, $5 for a second entry (limit of two entries per category).
  • Youth: $5 per entry (limit of two entries per category)

Arthur E. Ammeter

arthurammeterArthur retired after 32 years in the classroom, having taught English, French and History at the High School, Junior High School and Elementary French Immersion levels. He likes to work with dogs, cats, and horses in his spare time.

Arthur enjoys writing short stories and poetry and he has also written inspirational and devotional material for church publications. He was our April 2013 Featured Writer.
